Grace Escandon Rangel passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on May 18. She was 90 years old and resided in Pomona for over 65 years. She was born to Crispin and Dionisia Escandon in La Verne in 1921. She leaves a son Rudy Rangel of Pomona, a daughter Rosemary (Richard) Anderson and a granddaughter Lindsey Anderson all of Arroyo Grande, Ca. Grace participated in many of the events of her children. She served as PTA volunteer and camp fire girl leader. She worked as a nurse for over 35 years. Her hobbies included gardening, embroidery, and researching her family's history. Later, in her retirement years she volunteered in a chuch food bank program for 13 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Rangel in 2006 who was a long time barber in Pomona, her brothers Joaquin and Vincent Escandon, sisters Esther Calvillo and Inez Garcia. God richly blessed us with a wonderful mother whose life and memory we will forever cherish in our hearts. Visitation will be held on Wed. May 30, 2012 at Forest Lawn Covina Hills from 5:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. A celebration of her life will be at First Baptist Church in Pomona on Thursday May 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held on Friday at Forest Lawn Covina Hills.
