Rebecca Ann "Becky" Brooks, 64, born on February 18, 1952, in Fullerton, California, passed away February 15, 2017. She resided in Lakewood, California at the time of her passing. She is the daughter of Dorothy Brooks and the late Chester Brooks. Becky earned a Bachelor's Degree with highest honors in biology and anthropology from the University of California, Riverside (1974); a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering with high honors from California State University, Fullerton (1985); a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering (2003) and a Master's Degree in mechanical engineering (1992) from California State University, Long Beach; and a Master's Degree in environmental engineering from the University of Southern California (1995). She worked as an environmental engineer for the Orange County Sanitation District. Becky cared deeply about animals, especially cats and horses. She is survived by her daughter Rachael Hazelwood (Scott); her mother Dorothy Brooks; her brother Lawrence Brooks (Cathy); and her grandsons James and David Hazelwood. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California. Her funeral will be held at 10 am on March 17 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Riverside, CA . After the funeral, there will be a committal ceremony at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery (4414 14th St., Riverside) followed by a reception at The Old Spaghetti Factory (3191 Mission Inn Ave., Riverside). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Red Bucket Equine Rescue and Best Friends Animal Society.
