Army Major Mark Lane Renfrow, 52, born on February 3, 1965 in Lakewood, California, passed away on July 4, 2017. He resided in Lake Balboa, California, at the time of his passing. Mark was a True American Hero who Served in the Military for 22 years and worked for Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for 28 years.

He served for the United States Army from 1985 retiring as a Major in 2007.

From 1985-1992 he served on the 40th Infantry Division (Mechanized), California. Mark Renfrow was in a variety of reserve and active tours, his assignments ranging from Platoon Leader to Battalion Intelligence Officer. During this time he achieved the rank of Captain before being transferred into the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR).

From 2005-2007 Mark was part of the 405th Civil Affairs Battalion (US Army Special Ops)
He trained as a Civil Affair Operator under the United States Army Civil Affairs Psychological Operations Command. Mark was deployed to Afghanistan in 2006 where he served as Team Chief for the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) Engagement Team and worked on building the Government of Afghanistan's MOI at the national level. During this time he achieved the Rank of Major and given command of a Special Operations CAT-B Team in Paktia Province.

Mark Renfrow was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal with Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device, Army Training Ribbon, Army Overseas Ribbon, Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, NATO Non-Article 5 Service Medal.

Mark Renforw also worked for the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department from 1989-2017, he worked at the Pitchess Detention Center, Lennox Sheriff's Station, Men's Central Jail and retired as a Sergeant working at the East Los Angeles Sheriff's Station. He received the Medal of Bravery, Commendable Restraint Award, Multiple Division Chief Commendation Awards, Unit Citation Award and Numerous Civic Awards.
