Jerome Frank Werner, 90, born on June 11, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away November 23, 2016. He resided in Long Beach, California, at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
Jerry is survived by two daughters Gherri and Teddi, three grandchildren Levi, Jaclyn and Chase and one great-granddaughter Roxy. He is pre deceased by his loving wife Ruth and daughter Sally.
Jerry served in the Merchant Marines and later assisted in forming the US Merchant Marines veterans WWII and restored the SS Lane Victory which is now docked in San Pedro.
Jerry was past president of the CRA (California Republican Assembly) and was very active in politics.
Jerry was an avid fisherman and spent many summers in Hawaii deep sea fishing and enjoying the Hawaiian culture with Ruth.
He loved collecting and restoring Jaguars, building boats, vintage vending machines, and playing golf. He was an avid photographer and art collector.
Jerry was active in the CSU scholarship program. He was also a member of the Long Beach Community Playhouse and a parishioner at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Long Beach.
His passion for travel, cruising, the island of Lanai and all things Hawaiian, gourmet food and drink - Jerry was a true force of nature!
