Jeffrey C. McCloskey was born in Sacramento, Calif. on February 1, 1954. He passed away on February 23, 2017 after an eight year battle with pancreatic cancer in Indian Wells, Calif. He is preceded in death by his parents Betty and Howard McCloskey of Sacramento and his brothers Steven and Tim. Jeff is survived by his loving husband and best friend of 23 years, Dr. Brom Beckerman. He is also survived by his sister Kathy; Brother Tom; niece Kristin Bothun; nephews Owen and William McCloskey. Jeff attended American River College and California State University Sacramento. He began his professional career buying and selling homes in Sacramento and later San Francisco and Hillsborough, Calif. He bought and sold many foreclosures belonging to PMI Mortgage Insurance. In 1986, PMI recruited him to develop an in house program renovating their foreclosures. Jeff took the challenge and in his second year with PMI, he turned the claims department into a profit center saving the company tens of millions of dollars. This won him the coveted Chairman's Award, a feat that has never been duplicated. Jeff enjoyed working in San Francisco, and sharing his time between Hillsborough and his home in Lake Tahoe, Calif. Jeff left PMI for a life with Brom in 1994 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. There he helped procured two radio stations in Seattle for the sole purpose of Gay and Lesbian broadcasting. The stations were very successful. Jeff later founded a jewelry store which grew to be four stores prior to selling them. After arriving in the Desert, they purchased a home in Indian Wells and another in Lake Arrowhead, Calif. Jeff loved power boats, water skiing, and old muscle cars. Jeff's most recent love was flying as well as travel. He and Brom traveled the world. They home based as their home away from home, "Capri Italy" and ventured every direction from there. He then started California Real Estate Inspection Services which was recently sold due to his failing health. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4 at 12:00 p.m. in the Ramon Chapel at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cathedral City with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a cancer charity, pancreatic or your choice.
