Jeannette Hurley Reuben quietly passed away on February 1, 2017 at her home in Rancho Mirage, Calif. She was born June 3rd, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Edward N. Hurley, Jr. and Mildred M. (Murphy) Hurley. She was the granddaughter of Dr. John B. Murphy, a pioneer in the field of surgery and Edward N. Hurley, Sr., a prominent industrialist and inventor. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Don H. Reuben, a prominent Chicago attorney. Don passed away February 3, 2014. Jeannette was a longtime resident of Chicago, Illinois where she was very involved in various civic and charitable organizations including The Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum, the Chicago Historical Society, the USO and the Red Cross. She will be remembered by all as a graceful and elegant woman, the epitome of etiquette. She was an Alumni of Stonleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, Mass. Jeannette and Don settled in Rancho Mirage 30 years ago and were very involved in the community. Jeannette was a member of Desert Riders, the American Cancer Society and the Coachella Valley Animal Campus. Jeannette and Don had a rich and rewarding life together which included travel, boating, and a shared love of dogs and horses. Jeannette was previously married to Harris Haywood with whom she had three children; Harris Hurley Haywood (Steve Hill), Jeannette Hope Haywood-Boland, Edward Gregory Haywood (Elizabeth), she is survived by them and three grandchildren; Adrienne Jade Paul, Alec Nash Haywood (Danielle) and Kelsey Ann Haywood and two great grandchildren; Charlotte Lacy and Adalyn Claire Haywood. Jeannette is also survived by four stepsons, Michael Reuben (Susan), Timothy Reuben (Stephanie Blum), Jeffrey Reuben (Kiel Fitzgerald), Howard Reuben (Susan) and eight step-grandchildren Michael, Kayla, Daniel, Aubrey, Jenna, Rebecca, Charlie, and Harry. She will be missed by her family and all those who knew her. A private memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Cathedral City, Calif. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to ACT For MS or the Rancho Mirage Public Library.
