Gerald Nathan Serber, 76, known to friends and family as Jerry, was born on November 8, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, and passed away August 25, 2017 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a 7 year battle with prostate cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Sylvia Serber, loving daughter, Julie Serber and sister, Lorraine Barth, of Los Angeles. He and his wife resided in Calabasas, California at the time of his passing.

Jerry took great pride in his family. He was a loving father and husband with a very special sense of humor. Some might call them dad jokes; we call them Jerry Jokes. He could also talk to anyone, anywhere and among his favorite topics were cars, psychology, health/diagnosing people (his armchair diagnoses were well-known amongst his inner circle and we believe he saved many lives!). He had a great love of music and enjoyed singing along to almost any song, whether he knew the lyrics or not! Throughout the years, he always washed the family's cars by hand in his driveway and also took great pride in keeping up his home. Jerry worked in sales roles for many top companies including the Auto Club of Southern California in the 1970s where he was the top membership sales producer, and at Anthem/Blue Cross in insurance sales for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a persistent, silly, fun-loving, high energy, extremely intelligent person whose natural charisma and people skills led him to become the Top Grossing Agent in California for Anthem/Blue Cross.

Particularly because of his tenacious spirit, kind heart and ever-present sense of humor, all his doctors and nurses at Cedars were very fond of him and were rooting for him. We will miss him so very much. Thank you to anyone who has reached out to us with condolences. Jerry was certainly very fond of you too. Please see the side bar on this page if you'd like to make a donation in Jerry's name to a charity relevant to his cause or interests, including wildlife/nature conservation.
