Francis Robert O'Connor ("Sarge"), 62, born on February 7, 1955 in Chicago, IL passed away suddenly on June 23, 2017. God's blessed gift to parents John P. and Virginia (Betty) O'Connor (both deceased). Best friend, companion and bodyguard to his sister Ginny (Jim) Gallagher. Beloved brother to sisters Mary and Pegge O'Connor, Maureen (Henry) Betancourt, and long-time friend to Anna Castrovillari. Fond uncle to Joseph (Denise) DeLucio, Kathleen (Frank) Castrovillari, Juliana and Shauna Betancourt; great uncle to Daniel, Maddy, AJ, Nick, and Gianna. Francis lived in River Forest, IL for 22 years and in Palm Springs, CA for 34 years and until the passing of his beloved mother (aka pussycat). He was proudly devoted to the Palm Springs Police Department, all police organizations, "COPS", all military branches, and his church. He participated in Patriot Guard Riders missions with his sister Ginny honoring our fallen military. He gave tremendous joy and unconditional love to everyone he met, whether for a few moments or for a lifetime. Francis was truly a gentle soul but at the same time a tough "Irishman" who could withstand many challenges in his life, never losing hope for his dreams, or giving up on his trust in Jesus. He lived with Jesus in his heart and is now in His arms for eternal life. He will live forever in our hearts and will be remembered for the beauty, fun and humor he provided to this world. May he rest in peace and with all of our love. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Cathedral City, CA.
