It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Our Beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Clara G. Zapata. Clara was born in Redlands, California to Hortencia Reyes Avon and Mike Avon Sr. and entered Heavens gate on February 24, 2018 surrounded by the Love and Comfort of her family in Indio, California.
She is survived by her children Raul G. Zapata, Teresa Godoy Zapata and Gonzalo Zapata Jr. and adopted sons Ruben Padilla and Alex Rojo. Brother Mike Avon Jr. and sisters Priscilla Barrientos-Brodit and Anacita Cabanas. Grandchildren Joe and Reno Villarreal, Angelica Zapata, Rachel Martinez, Daniel Pinzon, Jose Zapata, Alberto and Mara Diaz, Noreen Zapata, Amanda Contreras and Alyssa Zapata and 20 Great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death and reunited with her husband Gonzalo O. Zapata Sr., son Jesse Zapata, mother and father Hortencia and Mike Avon Sr., brother Polo Gonzales, sister Cecilia Torres and grandson Vicente Diaz.
She grew up in the Coachella Valley and was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant at the Mulcare Nursing Home in Indio, California for over 20 years until she retired.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, March 8th, 2018 with a viewing and Rosary at 5pm-9pm at Forrest Lawn Funeral Home in Coachella, California and Friday, March 9th, 2018 at 10am at Our Lady of Soledad Church in Coachella, California with a burial to follow at the Coachella Valley Cemetery.
Clara will be truly missed beyond measure.
